Hey, great to see someone else is after the crook! Here's another blog shedding some light on this shady personality:

I also feel like although this crook can entartain a lot of us Elance deserves some heat too. They're concerned about their profits only and do little to protect honest users that regularly get ripped off by "Naveens" out there.
Anyone has a though or two about Elance?

Great to hear from you guys. We have already linked http://whoisnaveen.blogspot.com/ to ur blog - look at the 1st entry in link section - you determination to "nail" this crook really impressed us - and we decided to put all information about him in a single repository.
This is very true that Elance neglects such cases so much so that it has become playground for "Naveens" - I have closely seen how Naveen used to fool guys over elance using fake identities (including bank accounts, paypal accounts, passports) and false promises - I would like elance to have some mechanism to have unbiased and physical verification process for service providers - that "square trade" and people references and feedbacks are pretty easy to bypass - most of those service providers are in usa, russia , india etc - so having 3rd party physical verification is quite feasible - and it would only add to elance's credibility - I know of at least 8 buyers who left elance because there were duped by "Naveens" over there.
Its time for elance to act maturely and conduct businesses with integrity. Only then it would be able to take itself to next stage of online e-commerce.

I had the misfortune to meet for this crook. He’s new identity is Nakshsys. I met him in Ifreelance. He paid me the first deposit, then two weeks later was reversed because the money was coming from fraudulent funds. Then a week later come back to my account (so weird). Finally, He got nothing from me and I least got the deposit.
He tried to take those funds off by filling a complaint with PayPal, but it didn’t work for him because paypal does not offer refunds for services or digital goods. If you compare him with a dog, he is not even half smart. He filled a claim within 9 minutes and telling Paypal I didn’t response his emails. so How can I response his emails within 9 minutes. He is really stupid.
Finally I did a google search and I found this blog and I realized I made a big mistake. I supposed to search for this guy before hand. The good news is that he got ZERO work from me, only screenshots of what I was doing for him :D. he was showing this screenshot to his client as well. Hi,
I am in the middle of a project (as a buyer) but i am starting to get warning signals and would appreciate any advice or thoughts.
I selected a provider that has a 5.0 rating on elance (NAVEEN.. im hoping its not the same!) with 100% positive feedback from over 10 projects they won. The price they quoted was in the mid range of my bids and the communication started off very positive.
The project was for a link building campaign (100 page rank 4+ permanent links on music theme related sites) for a new music site I am about to launch. www.flametune.com
The payment was 50% down with a fixed budget - and the amount of links required was set. The Links had to follow a set of criteria i.e. no blackhat, hidden links, forum posts etc... basically genuine links.)
Yesterday I was sent back his first list of links, they contained irrelevant links, claimed that he had requested links from sites etc - however 2 of the links where from sites i own and had linked them myself! Another was a search listing result page, another an alexa ranking page and 3/4 of them didn't have any page rank at all...
Obviously trying to fool me into paying for links that had nothing to do with him, and I have paid a considerable deposit... Now I don't know how to deal with it. It is not in escrow as I didn't post a 'select' project.
I want to get what i asked for, but am worried that he will realize i am on to him and just run off with my cash and do no more work. The project is supposed to be completed in 2 weeks, and he is only 5% through. The work he has provided so far I could have done myself in a few hours, so my project is far from being too much work or unreasonable.
What would you suggest as being the best way to approach this / communicate with my provider?

I am extremely sorry to know what has happened to you. Being a service provider from the same country, people like me are facing trouble due to such fake service providers.
The sad thing is that he is being sarcastic with you by posting this:

Elance is the real crook here. They set up these con artists and use them to skim money from the providers. They support the con artists fully.
When I complained about Elance on their blog, they closed my account and blocked me. They do not tolerate dissent. Elance has already been indicted for fraud. They should be shut down fully.
