We have received neither any work nor our deposit. What are our options at this point?

Thanks.

Hello,

If we have not done so already, we can supply your with the service provider's registration details. With the service provider's registration details you have the option to pursue using a collections agency or attorney.

Please let us know if you would like the this information.

Please, do supply us with the provider's info. Although, given that many of Elance providers are residing outside of the US we pretty much have no hopes to recover the amount. Perhaps Elance should consider holding the cash until project's completion, because as it stands now, it is unlikely we would use your system again.

Regards.

Well, apparently Elance doesn't even collect provider's real
name before promoting them as Select Providers. Don't you think the information
below is useless?

So, let's see how this works. When it comes to
providers, Elance, not really knowing who they really deal with, vouches for
them, by assigning them upgraded status, which in turn costs more to the buyer
without offering anything in return. Again this benefits Elance, who deligently
collects money from misled buyers and promptly forwards the cash "somewhere" and
when embezzlement like this case happens they offer the buyer a piece of useless
and incomplete information that they failed to collect, focusing on getting paid
rather than providing safe environment where the buyers won't get ripped off.

Sounds like a nice starter for any law-firm specializing in white-collar
crime and negligence.

Before we went ahead evaluating our other
alternatives what can Elance REALLY do for us to resolve this issue?

Regards.

"... should we receive a update you will be notified
immediately."

...And if you won't receive anything back, then what? How
long shall
we wait. So Elance proved itself useless in resolving this issue.
You
already told us to wait until April 15, because provider promissed to
deliver something by the data. in a meantime they cleared their stuff
and now the trail is cold. Give us a definite date by which shall we
expect the results. Please do not bother to reply with your canned
messages.

As far as we're concern, Elance failed to ensure proper
environment
for transactions and misled us but using hyped terminology, thus
Elance owes us $630.

Please advise, who should we direct this
request before we satarted
sharing our negative experience web-wide and your
investors:

· Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers
· NEA (New Enterprise Associates)
· Pequot Capital Management
· Focus Ventures
· Integral Capital Partners

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Elance.

Unfortunately Elance does not have control over when the service
provider will respond. We cannot force a buyer or seller to do something they
will not. The Site functions as a venue to connect buyers and service providers
in a virtual marketplace. As a neutral facilitator, Elance Online is not
directly involved in the actual transactions between users of the Site.

We are sorry for the service provider's absence and will continue to
contact them. The service provider's Elance account will remain
suspended.

Hello,

We wish we had an update on the refund however
we still have not received a response from the service provider.

Thank you for your reply.

Strangely enough, after each message that we send to you we receive canned message with procedures to follow in order to file a complaint. Doen't your system detect the case number in the subject line?

Do you still expect provider to reply you and refund us? What steps were taken by Elance to resolve this issue?

Whatever happen to SquareTrade organization advertised on your site? We filed similar complaint with them but never heard back (besides a canned message as well)?

Regards.

1 Comments:

  • Elance is a free haven for scamners- both providers and clients. The verify nothing, see nothing, bear nothing.

And this is why the adage "you get what you pay for" is so important. Deal locally, check references, and build an actual relationship.

Im sorry this happened to you, but the takeaway is that (hopefully) you learned your lesson.
